Summer's Heat or Winter's Cold

Well we sure experienced Summer's Heat last Saturday. I'm ready for some winter's cold. I had planned to take my 5 year old grandson, but decided to save that for a cooler game down the line. Sure glad I did. He would have never made it through the ramp entrance.

Unless you were in the Horseshoe Saturday, you have no idea how hot it was in that place. I have been to many an early game, but never ever one any hotter. None. Period. Ever.

After hanging around the stadium, locker room, and parking lot for well more than an hour after the game was over.... it was still 103 outside temperature on my car thermometer when I got back to it. I myself had to go under the stands at the end of the second quarter to cool off...and at half-time watched people obviously on the verge of heat stroke streaming through the exits.

Even so I stayed to the end...and only the fact that the place half emptied out and a breeze picked up actually made it a bit more tolerable.

You know though what impressed me the most? We had a couple of linemen I think play every play of that game, and the starting offensive group of linemen played most of the game. Given all the heat, I think I only saw two cramps on the Buckeyes side of the ball. That was incredible. That kind of conditioning is going to serve us well in some tight fourth quarter games, and in two weeks when we go to South Florida to put one on the Hurricanes in the Florida heat and humidity. Shucks, after Saturday in the 'Shoe, playing an evening game down there will be nothing.

But first up, taking care of the Rockets!

Go Bucks!
