As I sit high in D Deck Saturday, the generals I will watch match wits on the field are two of the finest people in college football. What a treat it will be to see them both on the same field.
I think I am correct that Coach Paterno and Coach Tressel are the number one and two winning-est coaches of all those currently active in the game. Yet neither define them-self by wins on the field, but instead wins in the game of life. And both have made their mark with what they have done off the field as much as what they have done on it. Like wise old sages, they can hold court on much more than X's and O's.
Lest you doubt me, take a look at the video clip of Coach Tressel's Thursday meeting with the press on today's Ozone. Penn State, Woody, Winning, The Lima Company, Veterans Day, Thomas Edison - Coach T touches all the bases. If you can't watch all that and come away with something you can use to better your everyday life, well you must be a cold-hearted person.
I am glad I will get to see Coach Paterno Saturday in what well could be his last visit to the Horseshoe. I am glad he got his 400th win last weekend. I hope he gets number 401, just not this Saturday in Ohio Stadium!
