That’s the time it took me tonight to walk briskly round the perimeter of Ohio Stadium. In town, I took, as I often do, the opportunity to visit the Shoe at dusk. I had the place to myself as the sun melted away and the stars slid on to a still blue sky. If you have never experienced this transition it is a wonderful and peaceful event.
For me, it is an opportunity to hear the voices, to touch the concrete, to feel the history, and to be in the presence of the spirits of Horvath, Hayes and all the others as I gather thoughts on what to say about this grand old lady.
With no crowds in the way, it’s also an opportunity to admire the thousands of changing views as one circles this place. The lines, the angles, the circles, the squares, all combine into a constantly changing kaleidoscope of subtle color, texture and shape that makes this place we call the Shoe a thing of beauty and a living breathing work of art.
Try it sometime. I think you'll agree.
