34 years ago today, on June 16, 1773, I walked down the aisle and married my Ohio State sweetheart. At the time, as two new graduates, all Jenny and I had to our names were OSU diplomas, good educations, waiting jobs and a love for each other. The steps we took that day were the start of a 34 year love affair and a journey that continues today. In the years since we have each had successful careers, together raised two fine sons, watched each graduate from OSU, and have gained by their marriage precious daughters and our first grandchild.
When I started this project neither Jenny nor I knew how much work I was getting into. Jenny has supported me every step of the way. Without her encouragement I would have never have attempted this and without her support I couldn't stick with it. For the past year she has had to live with piles of letters, stories, research books, and sticky notes with phone numbers all over her kitchen and the computer desk. She postponed new furniture so I could buy a ticket to go to Glendale and she has watched her “honey do” list fall behind. She has never complained once.
So on this day, our day, I would like to say to Jenny thanks for 34 wonderful years together and thanks for your support. And to the Buckeye faithful, I would like you to know of our love. I am one lucky guy!
